Bumblebees and Flowers

These cupcakes were created for a girl's 1st birthday.  The bumblebees were first iced with vanilla buttercream, then white chocolate heart wings were pressed into the cupcake. Black fondant stripes were pressed into the buttercream. The head was squeezed onto the body using a pastry bag.  The eyes are made of white and black fondant and two mini chocolate chips as the antennas.

The flowers were created using a Wilton leaf piping tip. The center of the flower is black sprinkles.

Happy Birthday with a Rose!

For friends birthday, I created these roses from fondant. They are actually pretty simple even though they may look complex. The key is to let them dry for a long time so that the fondant does not become too soft when placed on the buttercream. Next time I am going to try to use a mixture of gumpaste and fondant.

FAME Cupcakes_White Chocolate

My elementary school has a behavior support program called FAME.  This stands for "F"ocus on Respect, "A"lways act safely,  "M"ake myself proud, b"E" responsible.  These cupcakes were made for a teacher luncheon.

The cupcake is actually White Chocolate. It is a vanilla cake with white chocolate chunks!

For the Princess

These princess cupcakes were made for a little girls birthday party.  Everything on the cupcake is edible. I used fondant to create the crowns and star wands. To create the rounded shape of the crown, I let the fondant harden pressed up against a cylinder shape. I then brushed it with edible glitter so that it would sparkle.

Spread the Love

My mom was looking through some articles today on the Internet about cupcakes. Did you know that pink is the most commonly asked for icing color?

Peanut Butter and Jelly with a Different Look

These Peanut Butter and Jelly cupcakes were created to coordinate with the Minnie Mouse Cupcakes. I tried to keep them simple since the frosting is tan in color.

Minnie Mouse Cupcakes

I love these cupcakes!  I think they are just adorable!  A co-worker gave me this toppers and asked that I create cupcakes to go along with them.  I am not sure where she purchased them. Sparkling sugar was added to the dark pink icing to make them shine. In addition, I chose the liners to match the polka dots of Minnie's bow!

Vanilla Cherry

These are perfectly sweet!  They are a moist vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. A cherry filling makes these extra sweet.

For the Princess

These are perfect for the little princess!  The toppers are made of fondant. I would have liked pink or princess liners, however, I didn't have any with me.

Banana Split Cupcakes

These Banana Split Cupcakes are delicious!  They were baked by my mom and decorated by me. They are a banana cake with strawberry filling. The frosting is chocolate fudge with peanuts and a cherry topper!

I haven't tried these yet, but they are called Cake Caps. Basically they are thin, edible application that you apply to the top of a frosted cupcake. It gives a very professional look and they have them for many different occasions.

Bake it in a Cake!

Bake it in a Cake is a great blog!  The creator is not a professional baker but a woman who was interested in cupcakes!  She finds creative ways to spice up cupcakes and bake things within the cupcake itself. She has recipes for cupcakes that have pudding, cookies, and cherry pies in the middle of her cupcakes.  It is a must see!

Starbursts

I has some extra buttercream so I tried to experiment using different methods. I thought this technique looked like little starbursts.

Topped with a Big Heart (Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes)

I usually try to stick with traditional flavors like chocolate and vanilla. However, I thought I would try these Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes. It is a yellow cake with a strawberry jelly center. The icing is peanut butter/butter cream. Although I am not crazy about the color of the icing, they taste pretty good. For Valentine's Day I added a fondant heart topper.

Loving Sprinkles

What makes these cupcakes special is the cupcake liners. I found them at Wegman's and just thought they were neat!  The vanilla buttercream was colored pink to celebrate Valentine's Day. The topper is either a white chocolate heart or a fondant heart.
